Ashford in the Water - Foxglove Cottage

Be charmed by this delightful period stone cottage which dates back to the 18th Century and features exposed beams, limestone arches and an Ashford marble fireplace. Curl up and relax on one of the sofas in the lounge/dining room, or sit at the writing bureau and plan your day's excursions.

Enjoy the well-fitted kitchen, with elecric hob and cooker, fridge, washer/dryer, microwave and breakfast bar, or wander outside into the delightful cottage garden, with its table and chairs, pergola and further garden bench to the rear. The garden enjoys the sun for most of the day.

The wide and easy to manage staircase leads upstairs from the entrance vestibule to 3 pretty bedrooms, 2 of which are double, (one with king-size bed), with the small bedroom having a 2'6" single bed, (more suitable for children). The cottage bathroom has a bath with shower over, bidet, washbasin and toilet.

This is a really warm and cosy cottage, perfect for couples or families alike. Home comforts include radio, TV and DVD/video. All linen and towels are provided along with gas central heating. There is a log effect gas stove in the lounge. Parking is on-street in front of the cottage.

Location

Foxglove Cottage is well positioned within Ashford-in-the-Water, (often referred to as 'the prettiest village in Derbyshire') and ideally placed to explore all of the delights of the Peak District. The village has two pubs serving food, a restaurant, a cafe and village shop. It also has its own cricket pitch, the old Packhorse Bridge over the River Wye (complete with ducks and swans) and the historic Church of the Holy Trinity. The market town of Bakewell with its excellent shopping, restaurants, cafes and markets is just 2 miles away (don’t forget the annual show: www.bakewellshow.org).

Also nearby are the historic country houses of Chatsworth and Haddon Hall, the spectacular scenery of Monsal Dale and the Wye Valley, the Caves of Castleton (home of the 'Mighty Titan' - the largest cave in the United Kingdom), the cable cars of Matlock, the thrills of Alton Towers and not to mention the shopping at Meadowhall, (one of the largest shopping centres in the country).

For lovers of the outdoors the area has everything from walking to cycling, climbing, fishing, horse-riding, caving and much more! Miles of cycle trails can be explored on foot or bicycle. The White Peak is in close proximity as is the tranquillity and breath-taking scenery surrounding the Derwent Dams where the famous 617 'Dambusters' trained for the dams' raids (still commemorated with annual fly-past).
